Jeje Lalpekhlua
Jeje is someone who needs little introduction in Indian football. The Mizo sniper has been on a hot run of form right from the 2015 ISL edition and has scored numerous goals for club and country since then. He also had an eight-games goal-scoring run for the Indian national team.
Jeje is one of the players retained by Chennaiyin FC and will be seen in action for Chennai again. He has also signed a long term contract with the Tamil Nadu-based franchise.
Stiven Mendoza
The Colombian striker, who lit the ISL on fire, was a treat to watch for everyone. This young Colombian striker captivated everyone with his dazzling speed, skill, and helped Chennaiyin FC win the ISL by scoring the all-important wining goal.
The winner of 2015 edition's Golden Boot award, he is one of the few players who joined Chennai as a free agent but was signed by Brazilian big wigs Corinthinias after his impressive performance in the ISL. Stiven also went on to have a loan spell at New York City FC alongside players like David Villa and Frank Lampard.
He played for Chennai in the first two editions of the ISL and is currently playing for Brazilian side EC Bahia.
Bruno Pellisari
This young Brazilian wizard was a revelation during the second season of the ISL, having one of the highest number of Assists during the tournament, Pellisari was the main creator of attacks for Chennaiyin. He was so important for Marco’s side that Materazzi benched Elano, the marquee player, to play Bruno during the 2015 season.
A set piece specialist, Bruno Pellisari went on to play an important role for Delhi Dynamos too in the 2016 ISL. At the moment, he is contracted with a Brazilian club named Clube Atlético Votuporanguense. Fans of the ISL will surely miss this dead ball specialist.
