Indian Super League’s Chennai franchise are in talks with Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi for the marquee manager role according to reports.
Chennai Titans have a tie-up with Italian giants Inter Milan and thus club legend Materazzi is in contention to become the manager of the franchise.
Materazzi won the 2006 World Cup with Italy and the Champions League with Inter Milan in 2010. The former defender spent ten years at Inter and was capped 41 times at senior international level.
The 41-year-old visited India back in May, representing Inter for their youth development program.
He retired in 2011 but doesn’t have any coaching experience so it remains to be seen if the league approves him as the manger because Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was rejected for similar reasons.
A TOI report says that former Juventus manager and Italy defender Ciro Ferrara is a backup option along with former Netherlands midfielder Edgar Davids, who was player-manager of English fourth tier outfit Barnet in the last two seasons.
