The 34th match of ISL 2017 sees Mumbai City FC take on Delhi Dynamos. Mumbai City FC won their last match against NorthEast United, while Delhi Dynamos are on a 5-match losing streak. A win for Mumbai will take them to the 2nd spot.
Goalkeeper
Amrinder Singh: Amrinder Singh kept his 2nd clean sheet against NorthEast United, despite Mumbai City not having the best of times defensively. The 24-year-old has done well making 29 saves so far, the most by a keeper in ISL 2017.
Defenders
Lucian Goian: The sturdy Romanian has continued his last season’s form where he was named the best defender. Goian has attempted a massive 48 tackles, the most by a defender in ISL 2017. His 15 interceptions are also the joint-most by any player in ISL 2017.
Gerson Vieira: Gerson Vieira has been superb for Mumbai City FC so far. The Brazilian has attempted 243 passes, the second most by a Mumbai City FC player. He has also been a threat going forward attempting 6 shots so far, highlighting his offensive threat. With Delhi Dynamos struggling for goals Gerson is a must pick.
Cichero: Venezuelan Gabriel Cichero has been the best in the bad bunch of Delhi Dynamos defence and returns after serving a one-match suspension. The 33-year-old has helped build from the back as illustrated by his 332 attempted passes, the 2nd most by a Delhi player. He has also made 10 tackles so far. His high action style means Cichero can earn you a few extra points.
Pritam Kotal: Though Kotal has been below par so far in this campaign, the 24-year-old’s speed and crossing mean that he is always a threat for the opposition. Kotal has already provided an assist in the campaign and can take advantage of Abhinash’s inexperience on the opposite flank.
Midfielders
Achille Emana: Achille Emana produced a superb performance against NorthEast United dominating the midfield with his ball-carrying ability and physicality. The burly midfielder assisted both of Mumbai City FC’s goals helping them register their first away win of the campaign. The 35-year-old will be Mumbai’s primary threat going forward.
Everton Santos: The Brazilian has impressed with his work rate and directness with the ball going forward. The 31-year-old’s 10 shots attempted is also the 2nd most by a Mumbai City FC player and has also created numerous opportunities for teammates.
Lumu: Lumu has gradually improved with games and might be primed to make an impact on Mumbai City FC’s defence. The Dutchman has the vision to open up any defence to go with his quality movement in the box which means he often finds himself in goal scoring positions.
Paulinho Dias: The defensive midfielder got off to a bright start in Delhi Dynamos' win against FC Pune City by scoring and assisting in the same match has faded. But Dias with his technique and work rate is still one of Delhi Dynamos most important players. The 29-year-old has attempted 8 shots, the 2nd most by a Delhi player and has attempted 18 tackles which is the highest in the Delhi Dynamos squad.
Forwards
Kalu Uche: Kalu Uche missed Delhi’s last match against ATK, but the experienced striker is the most likely player to break Delhi’s scoring duck. The Delhi Dynamos captain’s strength, movement and finishing means he is always a threat for the opposition.
Balwant Singh: Balwant Singh scored a brace against NorthEast United which helped Mumbai City FC register their first away win of the ISL 2017/18 campaign. The 31-year-old has now scored 4 goals and is the joint top Indian scorer of ISL 2017. With Delhi yet to keep a clean sheet, Balwant has a good chance of adding to his tally.
