Former Manchester United and Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre has confirmed on his official Twitter account that he has joined the Chennai franchise of the Indian Super League.
The Chennai franchise, which will be called Chennaiyin FC, also made the announcement on their social media accounts on Saturday.
The 37-year-old last played for Portland Timbers in the MLS and worked as a pundit at Sony Six’s 2014 World Cup coverage in India.
The former France international becomes the second marquee signing of the Chennai franchise, which earlier roped in Brazilian Elano.
Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi will be their manager and he arrived at Chennai’s training base in Bangalore on Saturday evening.
