ISL: The Colombas have been crucial to Pune City's performances

The Colombas – Franco and Davide have represented FC Pune City very well so far

The far and wide horizons of global football have often witnessed family consanguinity. Most notably, there are the Toure brothers, the Boateng brothers and the father-son duo of Harry-Jamie Redknapp.

The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) also features and flaunts one such blood-relationship in the form of Franco and Davide Colomba. The father and son ply their respective trades for FC Pune City, where Franco manages the Hrithik Roshan co-owned side and Davide is an impressive midfielder.

Born in the bright city of Bologna, Davide carried a mantle associated with football from his very first day. He made his professional debut for third-division Italian side Foggia in 2009. In 17 appearances for Foggia, Davide scored twice. He then moved to Lega Pro side SPAL, representing them 15 times.

After a short stint with SPAL, the footballer got together with his father who was the manager for Parma, although it was cut short as Davide was immediately loaned out to Crotone. In 2012, Davide moved to Ascoli and bagged 14 appearances. The duo was once again united at Pune at the start of the season.

Although Davide has appeared only six times for the Pune franchise, his varied array of talents were on show against Atletico de Kolkata, where he scored the final goal in a 3-1 mauling of the opposition. With a good 11 shots on goal, the Italian's attacking intent and trickery with the ball have often been on display in these appearances.

A traditional midfielder, Davide has been deployed in contrasting positions by his father. The Italian has played as a left winger and even as a left attacking midfielder for Pune. His ability to take on opposing defenders and beating them with his sudden burst of pace mixed with skill could play a vital role in a Pune contingent looking for resurgence.
