Delhi Dynamos are wary of Mumbai City FC's calibre, says assistant Coach Raman Vijayan

Delhi Dynamos sit joint top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) charts with nine points from their opening four games. The Dynamos are flying after three wins on the spin with two of those victories coming on the road.

Roberto Carlos’ men now travel to bottom club Mumbai City FC with an aim to stretch their winning streak and bag another three points on the road. A win will take the Dynamos top of the ISL table and that will be a mouth-watering prospect for the men from Delhi.

But Delhi Dynamos assistant Coach Raman Vijayan says that his team isn’t taking Mumbai City FC lightly and is wary of their calibre.

“Mumbai City FC is a strong team. They have a great attack with the likes of Sunil Chhetri and Sony Norde in their ranks. Nicolas Anelka is a top player and his experience adds a lot to their team.

“I have seen their previous games and they played well even though they did not get the results and I feel they have the calibre to control any situation,” said the former Indian striker.

Vijayan was not too concerned with Delhi Dynamos’ lack of goals and felt his side have the right attitude and mutual understanding to win games as he hailed manager Roberto Carlos for bringing that to the table at Delhi Dynamos.

“I think we have a different strategy in games. We have built a great understanding between the Indian and the foreign players and Roberto has done well to instill a great attitude among the players,” said Vijayan, portraying his great belief in the squad.

Delhi Dynamos’ wins have all come by one goal margins, but assistant coach Vijayan was more than happy with the points rather than the manner of the results.

“I feel you do extremely well when you win an away game in the ISL. To get six points from two very difficult away games was a satisfactory outcome for us and we are looking to continue to do the same. We would like more goals and bigger wins, but getting the points is a bigger priority.”

Delhi Dynamos’ right back is primed for a tough outing against his Mohun Bagan team-mate Sony Norde when the Dynamos take on Mumbai City FC later today, but Souvik refused to focus on individuals and conceded that his team will be up against a top side in Mumbai City FC.

“It’s not about any particular player. Mumbai is a very good team and so are we. We will try to play like a unit and do what we can do best. Hopefully, we will be able to take all three points against Mumbai,” said the Dynamos full back ahead of the clash with Mumbai City FC.
