Liverpool star Mohamed Salah admitted that it's 'great to achieve' the feat of becoming the club's fourth all-time topscorer after his two-goal heroics against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds came away from the frantic London encounter with a 6-3 victory that also saw Luis Diaz score a brace, while Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai netted one apiece too.

Following a relatively quiet first half which did see him bag the assist for Szoboszlai, Salah burst into life after the break with a quickfire double. Both were simple finishes from close range but demonstrated his predatory instincts as the Egyptian was in the right place at the right time to take his chances.

With the fresh pair of goals, the forward created a new record, becoming the fourth most prolific goalscorer in Liverpool's history with 229 goals in all competitions. Only Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285) and Gordon Hodgson (241) have netted more than him for the club.

In his post-match comments, Salah reflected on the feat and revealed that while he's delighted to have achieved it, he's more happy with the fact that Liverpool won the game tonight. He said (via The Anfield Talk):

“It’s great to achieve that at such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game. Wherever I am going to end my career I am happy about it.”

Salah has been on a fine run of form this season. He now has 15 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League. Interestingly, he needs just 13 more goals to become the third all-time top-scorer of Liverpool - another feat that's well within his reach.

Mohamed Salah pulls clear of Erling Haaland in Premier League Golden Boot race

With two more goals tonight, Mohamed Salah has pulled two clear of his Manchester City rival Erling Haaland on the Premier League goalscoring charts. He now has 15, while the Norwegian is on 13.

Haaland appeared to have been running away with yet another top-scorer prize when he netted 10 times from their opening five games alone. But a decline in form since then means Salah has not only been able to close him down, but even go ahead.

Although the gap is too small for the time being, the players are on a different trajectory right now, with the Liverpool ace looking unstoppable and his City rival struggling to find his feet.
