Ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham was the recipient of a red card just six minutes after coming on in Paris St Germain’s 1-0 win over Evian.
The Englishman was sent off following a high footed challenge on Evian’s Youssef Adnane. Replays showed that there was minimal contact between the two players and that Youssef faked the alleged challenge.
With the suspension to begin, Beckham misses out on all three remaining games of PSG’s season. The 37-year old however will be the first Englishman to win titles in four different European leagues, should the Parisian club win Ligue 1.
The match ended with a mass brawl between staff and players of both teams. Two more red cards were given to PSG keeper Salvatore Sirigu and Evian’s Saber Khlifa. The win for PSG, however, gives them back the nine-point advantage over second placed Marseille.
