Rumours: Arsenal set to miss out on Jackson Martinez

Porto’s striker Jackson Martinez, who was being linked with Arsenal a few weeks back, is set to commit to a new contract at Porto.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to buy a new striker as Nicklas Bendtner was ruled out for some time and Martinez was high on his list. Martinez’s current contract runs till June 2016 and has a buy-out clause of around £3om to £35m.

The Colombian was initially stalling over a new contract last year but has taken a u- turn now and his agent Luis Manuel Manso told Radio Renascenca: “It is all well and the agreement is clear.”

The striker has scored 49 goals in 46 league appearances for the Portuguese side and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will view this as a deal that got away.
