Real Madrid’s biggest signing of the season, World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez is determined to make his mark at the Santiago Bernabeu and he is aiming to follow in the footsteps of the man who had to make way for him at the club.
The £63 million man from AS Monaco said he had a lot of respect for the Argentine who himself made a £59.7 million move to Manchester United this summer.
“As for Di María, he is a great player. He made history here and I have a lot of respect for him,” James said.
“I have only just joined, but I want to make history with Real Madrid as well.
“I am comfortable here and I want to do everything the coach tells me to do. I just want to help so we can win.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third hat-trick of the season in 5-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday but the Colombian singled out forward Karim Benzema for special praise.
Benzema scored a brace.
“Benzema scores and provides assists and we all hope he can keep hitting the mark.” said Real’s No.10.
“The feeling is that everything went perfectly, although we've already had good games. We are all playing well. We have dangerous players up front and we are strong at the back.”
