26-year-old Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa has extended his contract with I-League champions Mohun Bagan AC after scoring seven goals and four assists in the Mariners title season. Yusa made his debut in India in 2011 with ONGC where he scored 12 goals in two seasons helping his club gain promotion back into the I-League first division in 2013.
Prior to moving to India, Katsumi played with Paraguayan División Intermedia side San Lorenzo. Yusa has quickly become a favourite among Mohun Bagan supporters with his positive attitude, commitment and entertaining style of play.
Mohun Bagan Finance Secretary Debashis Dutta said, “Katsumi Yusa has been a vital part of our squad since he has joined us and has contributed to the team's success and growth over the past two seasons. As a club, we are very pleased to have re-signed Katsumi Yusa. It was evident that he was instrumental in winning us the I-League 2014/15 and by re-signing Katsumi, we move a step closer to completing our squad for season 2015/16.”
“Without doubt Katsumi will continue to influence our group positively, add much-needed stability and continue to entertain our fans in the way he did last season,” Debashis Dutta added.
Libero Sports Partner and FIFA Licensed Agent Arvind Narayan, who represented Katsumi Yusa in the contract extension, said, “Katsumi is a strong player and had a successful season at Mohun Bagan AC helping his club become national champions of India. I'm confident that Katsumi will continue to evolve his game and serve as a vital part of Mohun Bagan's quest to retain their I-League title and make a mark in Asia.”
