Javier Hernandez is facing an anxious wait to see how serious the knee injury he picked up on international duty is.
The Manchester United forward was forced off at half-time in Mexico’s friendly match against Nigeria after colliding with goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in their 0-0 on Wednesday. The Mexican has been going through a testing time at Old Trafford, with some suggestions that he should leave the club.
While knee ligament injury has been ruled out by the Mexican team doctor, Hernandez must undergo tests to find out the extent of his problems, offering fresh problems to David Moyes in his hopes to revive United’s season.
Doctor Jose Vazquez told reporters, “We have to wait to see how it evolves and to run the relevant tests.
“It’s a blow but we rule out the possibility of a knee ligament strain. There is only pain and there is no indication of instability in the knee.”
Hernandez himself exclaimed some dismay with his injury after struggling to earn a starting spot at United and suggested he has some real concerns over the injury, with only three months separating us from the start of the World Cup in Brazil.
He said, “I don’t feel good. The goalkeeper fell on top of me, I’ll wait for the tests.”
