Javier Hernandez has revealed his disappointment at the way he has been treated by Manchester United over the past season, feeling that his confidence has been dented by how former manager David Moyes valued him in his squad.
Hernandez has fallen out of favour in the starting XI for national side Mexico as a result of his reduced playing time at club level, with the striker reduced to substitute appearances and scoring just once before Mexico were knocked out in controversial circumstances by Netherlands.
He was able to make just six starts for United in the Premier League last season as Moyes preferred to use Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck ahead of him, prompting speculation that the striker could look to leave in the summer, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal linked with a move for Hernandez.
He has now given the biggest suggestion that he will seek an exit from Old Trafford in the close season, venting his frustration at his treatment by the club and the lack of faith shown in him.
Hernandez told reporters, “This whole year has been very tough.
“Players need confidence more than anything else and I’ve been very short of it.
“Very few people have shown faith in me over this past year.”
