Jesus Navas has said that he declined the move to Arsenal back in 2010 and decided to move to Manchester City as he wanted to win more trophies here.
The 27-year-old star who joined City earlier this summer for £15 million, said that he felt the time was right for him to pick up more trophies and bring success to the club.
Stating that he had enjoyed his stay with Sevilla especially when they had won in the 2010/11 season, he felt it was the right time to move forward as the club had not won anything recently.
“When Arsenal came in it was the year when Sevilla won the Spanish Cup,” Navas said.
“I was still winning things and achieving things at Sevilla and therefore it wasn’t the right time to move. But we haven’t won anything for two or three years and I feel now is the right time to move on.”
Calling himself an ambitious player who always demanded 100% of himself, he believed that it was always important for him to be part of a winning set up as it drives him to perform all the more better, especially to win games.
Navas is somebody who has been labelled in the past as a player who suffers from homesickness. Terming these suggestions as things of the past, he maintained that he had grown from those days and was eager to play. He believed that having his wife and kid with him in England will definitely help him in this regard, also his teammates would play a major role in helping him out.
