German international coach Joachim Low has denunciated Real Madrid for selling Mesut Ozil to Arsenal. Criticizing Real for selling one of their best players, Low finds it hard to make a sense out of the deadline day transfer.
Arsene Wenger finally made the much-awaited big money signing, touted as the signing of the summer by many pundits, by bringing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to the Emirates for a transfer fee of £42.5 million.
However, Low thinks that the 24-year-old, in whom Real Madrid’s new boss Carlo Ancelotti does not have faith in, will only stand to benefit in a more appreciative atmosphere under Arsene Wenger.
Low was quoted as saying by The Guardian: “Many Real players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are sad about the transfer. For me, it’s incomprehensible that Real would sell one of their top scorers.
“Mesut is a sensitive player and he needs the faith from the club and the coach. It seems that was not longer 100% there at Real whereas Arsenal and their coach Arsène Wenger pulled out all the stops to get him.
“He has a top coach there and, with Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker, he has two German colleagues. Arsenal are a strong team who play technically high-quality football.”
Low believes all that matters is that Ozil is now in good spirits and it augurs well for Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Austria on Friday night.
