Liverpool‘s 23-year-old Welsh midfielder Joe Allen was earlier today ruled for the rest of the season. The Welshman had to withdraw himself from the Welsh squad on Sunday to sort out a nagging issue with his left shoulder.
Liverpool medics, after having a thorough examination of the shoulder, have advised Allen to go under the knife. Liverpool’s first team doctor Zaif Iqbal said in a statement, “Joe Allen is due to have a left shoulder operation tomorrow morning in Liverpool and will be ready to return to football at the beginning of next season.”
Allen has been Liverpool’s most expensive signing of the year after he followed Brendan Rodgers in the summer from Swansea. He had started the first 17 games of Liverpool Premier League campaign this term but had recently seen himself out favour with Lucas Leiva being preferred to him.
