John Terry: Your thoughts on our centre half this season under Jose Mourinho?

It was interesting to read in yesterday’s Mirror that John Terry has been considering making an international comeback and I immediately thought to myself “what a load of crap!” It’s only come about because of his performances this season once again under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.

Terry played down any talk of an England return a month or so ago and said that he was purely concentrating on his football. His performances so far this season (for the most part) have vindicated the managers choice in starting him in every single Premier League game so far.

Speaking in the Chelsea Magazine as they focus on our Captain’s 600 games for Chelsea, Terry has taken time out to speak of Mourinho and what he has done for him this season.

“The manager was straight with me from day one. When José came in, after the first week he said, “For me, nothing has changed. You’re still top, you can still work and play at the top.”He showed faith in me, and to get that arm around you is something everyone needs, even if you are one of the more experienced players in the team.At the time the manager spoke about it, I think I needed it and, when I got that from him, it not only made me feel 10ft tall, but it made me want to work even harder for the man in charge.It makes you go to that extra level – and I would give everything for the manager.”

As we all know, it’s a very different situation for JT this season compared to last when he was omitted from the side and for the most part, hardly involved under Rafa Benitez.

This season, it’s almost like we are watching the John Terry of old. Ok he isn’t as quick as he used to be but he more than makes up for it with his ability to read a game.

Playing next to Gary Cahill has helped the both of them and for me, they are the number one choice to start ahead of David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic.
