Mexican footballer Jonathan dos Santos, who plays as a central or defensive midfielder at Barcelona, has confirmed that he will be staying with the club for the 2013-14 season, turning down a move to Real Sociedad.
He was seen as on his way out of the Camp Nou this summer in search of first team football, with La Real seen as having lined up a transfer deal.
“Thank you to the club and the coach for the confidence they are providing me,” wrote Dos Santos on his official Twitter account.
“I communicate with great joy that I am staying at Barca.
“Now more than ever I am close to fulfilling my dream, to succeed at Barca.”
The player declared his happiness at staying back on after meeting new coach Gerardo Martino and reportedly being told by the Argentine that he figures in first team plans for the Catalans next season.
