Following his successful loan spell with Blackpool, Jonjo Shelvey is keen impress Kenny Dalglish and cement his place in Liverpool‘s first team.
During his loan spell with the Seasiders, Jonjo Shelvey scored 6 goals in 10 appearances. But then, he was called back to Liverpool due to Lucas Leiva sustaining a season ending cruciate knee ligament injury.
Alongside Lucas, Liverpool’s captain, Steven Gerrard is also missing out with an ankle injury, while midfielder, Jay Spearing was sent off on his first Barclays Premier League start this season at Fulham last week, and still has two matches of his suspension to serve.
It provided a decent opportunity for Jonjo Shelvey too, and he is keen to show his potential to manager Kenny Dalglish.
“I feel that the time I spent away from the club really helped me come on as a player,” Shelvey told Liverpoolfc.tv
“But it also made me realize just how much I want to be playing in Liverpool’s first team.
“There is a big difference between Championship Football and Premier League football.
“I feel so good to be back in the team. I only got on a few minutes against QPR on Saturday, but it was really special to be back in the pitch in front of the fans. It’s always a great honor to play for Liverpool.”
