Jordan Henderson has hailed Liverpool’s home form this season, feeling that it is about time that the Reds turned Anfield into a ‘fortress’.
Henderson’s first season with Liverpool saw them win just six games, but they have gradually gotten better under Brendan Rodgers and have now won 11 of their 13 games at Anfield, including a 5-1 demolition of then-leaders Arsenal.
Swansea are the latest side to enter the Merseyside coliseum on Sunday and Henderson is loving life on home soil and hopes for yet more success against the Swans.
The England midfielder said, “When I first came here, people probably would have enjoyed coming to Anfield.
“I think now, nobody wants to come to Anfield. It’s a fortress.
“We needs to make sure that we keep going for as long as we can, because it’s a big reason as to why we’ve been doing so well this season. We need to keep our home form going and build on the away form as well.
“The games against Everton and Arsenal were fantastic wins. From start to finish, both games were amazing.
“We’ve got to take a lot of confidence from them, but we have to do it every week as well. It will be hard to, but we have to make sure we do it on a consistent basis.
“We’re working so well as a team in those games. We can build on that and push really high up the league.
“The manager will give his pointers on how he wants to go about the game.
“He’ll do that during the week and get us motivated for the game. We’re raring to go come game time. We just want to get out there and give 100 per cent.
“I’m sure it (the Swansea game) will be a difficult game because they are a good side. They have some good players and they keep the ball well.”
Jordan Henderson has enjoyed home comforts himself, with 31 of his 48 created chances coming at Anfield, while five of his six assists have come on home soil.
