Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has been ruled out of action for three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s La Liga clash against Sevilla.
An official Barcelona statement stated that the defender had been diagnosed with torn fibers in his right hamstring which will require treatment. The injury means that Alba will miss the next six matches, including Champions League clashes against Celtic and Ajax.
Barcelona won the match against Sevilla with a late winner by Alexis Sanchez, who was set up by Lionel Messi. However, the win was overshadowed by the controversies which followed regarding Sevilla’s disallowed goal.
Meanwhile, Sanchez said that he was lucky to get the last minute goal which sealed the three points.
“I was lucky because the ball came to me and I was able to score the match-winning goal,” Sanchez told Barca TV.
