According to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, the return of Jose Mourinho marks beginning of a victorious era for Chelsea.
The Chelsea manager is going to create some serious problems for David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini, who had hopes of their own to take their respective Manchester sides to the top of the table.
While Moyes has the herculean task of filling Ferguson’s shoes at Old Trafford, Pellegrini’s is to restore decorum at a Roberto Mancini- less Etihad.
In spite of the statistics and the obvious credentials, Carragher, who recently joined the Sky Sports’ team of experts after a glorious career spent at the Anfield side, believes that they will have to pick up the leftovers after Mourinho has claimed his majestic share.
Carragher insisted: “Chelsea will be box office for the Premier League, for Sky, for all of us, with Mourinho there.
“They’ve been successful in the last few years but now I see them fighting for the title again. And if I had to tip someone now, I’d pick Chelsea. I think they will win it.”
“Mourinho is just a special manager who gets special results. That could make the difference this time.”
Moyes will have the most grueling task of them all; not only is this the first time that United will be kicking off the campaign without Fergie after 26 years, but also the fixtures dictate that Chelsea, Liverpool and City will be among the first ones to play United.
