Jose Mourinho has declared that the Blues have shut up shop when it comes to recruiting for the summer after confirming the signing of Filipe Luis, reports the Daily Mail.
While the likes of Sami Khedira and others continue to be linked with a move to a Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea faithful will have to take these tabloid stories with a pich of salt from now on, following Mourinho’s statement.
Speaking to reporters, Mourinho said: "I have to say my club did a fantastic job, and not just because of what we bought, but because we did it in almost record time. The transfer market closes 31 August and we close our market on July 19. We finished the market today."
"The club did fantastic, we knew the targets, we knew the players and the club attacked them and their clubs at a very early stage. We got exactly what we need and what we want. The squad is one which I like very much and I look forward to starting the season."
"I don’t think so (sign any more players). The market is open, but we are so happy with what we have. We feel that our squad is what we want. We don't want a squad of only end products. We also want to bring to the first team, three or four under-21s, we are going to develop players and are happy with this balance we have."
While Chelsea lost David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain this off-season, they brought in three new faces in the form of Diego Cosata, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis over the summer.
With Nemanja Matic still to hit his stride, and the added returns of Thibaut Courtois and Oriol Romeu from loan spells in Spain means that the squad seems to have enough depth and quality to have a serious crack at the Premier League title this time around.
