Jose Mourinho has demanded an improvement from his players as he looks to win his third Premier League title next season.
Speaking at the Chelsea awards dinner on Monday night Mourinho said “We have to do better, I have to do better, the players have to be better.” While Mourinho also sent a warning to his title rivals claiming Chelsea are aiming for the title next season.
On a night where Cesar Azpilicueta and Eden Hazard took the main Player of the Year awards it came as no surprise to hear Mourinho speaking out yet again about his squad’s performances. The Portuguese admitted he was happy to be back in England but displayed his desire to win by saying he was “not happy with third.”
Mourinho told reporters, ‘”I’m happy with the evolution, but I’m not happy with third. Next season we want to do better than we did.”
Despite being a mainstay of the Premier League title race Chelsea were let down by their own failings against smaller teams although their achievements this season seem praiseworthy when their striking issues are considered.
With Chelsea already agreeing a fee for Diego Costa they will be confident of mounting a successful Premier League title challenge and Mourinho echoed these views saying “I have great belief in them and I think next season we can start day one and we can say without any kind of fears that we are there not to fight for the title, to win it.”
