Jose Mourinho has admitted for the first time that he is looking at the situation of Cesc Fabregas at Barcelona, but has claimed that no deal will be done for the Spanish midfielder until after the World Cup this summer.
Reports had claimed that Fabregas has agreed a £200,000 per week contract to join Chelsea with only a fee to be agreed with Barcelona in order for him to complete his switch to Stamford Bridge, despite additional interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.
The former Arsenal midfielder is not in the plans of new Barcelona coach Luis Enrique and looks set for a move away and while Mourinho admitted the Premier League would be the most likely destination for Fabregas, he stopped short of saying that any deal was in place to take him to Stamford Bridge.
“I think he is anxious to leave Barcelona and motivated to return to England. I think that is clear.
“Whether he is going to sign for Chelsea or another club, that is not a subject to be discussed today, or tomorrow, or before the World Cup.”
