Ever since Jose Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December, there has been intense speculation about the Portuguese manager’s new job and now the former Chelsea manager has spoken about where he wants to manage.
Mourinho surprisingly said that he would like to manage in a different league and he also said that he wanted to manage in a place which really wanted him.
"I'll take my ideas to where they are wanted. I need to feel comfortable and I like to be where I am truly wanted," Mourinho told reporters in a sponsorship event at Lisbon.
"I want to work in a club with responsibilities, I want to work in a club with a difficult league, where there are no easy targets. Within these possibilities, there are not many options for me. Calmly, we will decide."
Rumours have linked him with both Manchester United and Real Madrid recently, however, Mourinho said he still did not know where he will end up. He did suggest though he will be back in the summer.
"I can almost guarantee that I'll be working this summer," Mourinho said. "I've had good offers on the table, but I do not know where I am going. After a few months to recharge my batteries, I'll be ready to go with everything I have to give.
"It's a matter of thinking, to come to a good decision and deciding it. In the summer, at the end of the season, everyone will know what my next club will be."
Reports: Real Madrid to target Mourinho if they exit from the Champions League
Real Madrid suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of Wolfsburg in Germany on Wednesday night. The Germans outclassed their superior opponents and will take a two-goal advantage to the Bernabeu next week.
If the club do bow out from the competition they will intensify their chase for Jose Mourinho as Zinedine’s Zidane’s replacement next season according to journalist Ed Malyon. Mourinho was in charge of the club between 2010 and 2013 helping them win their first La Liga title since 2008.
But a failure to put an end to Barcelona’s dominance and a reported rift in his relationship with some of the players saw his tenure ended abruptly by the club after he had signed a new four-year deal the same season.
Florentino Perez reportedly tried to re-appoint the former manager in January after sacking Rafael Benitez but was rebuffed by the Portuguese because he was confident of landing the United job. Zidane was announced as the new head coach the morning after Benitez’s sacking.
