Jose Mourinho has issued a warning to Real Madrid in their continued pursuit of signing Brazil international Ramires after admitting the midfielder will not leave Chelsea this summer.
Earlier reports claimed the Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez gave the green light in bringing the 27-year-old to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. However, the former Inter Milan and Real manager has put the recent speculations linking Ramires with a move away from Stamford Bridge to bed.
“Ramires is staying at Chelsea. He's not for sale,” Mourinho told the Spanish newspaper Marca.
"I have an excellent friendship with important people within Real Madrid and they know that Ramires is going to stay at Chelsea.”
Real manager Carlo Ancelotti signed Ramires for Chelsea while the Italian boss was in charge at the West London club. The Brazilian midfielder has heaped praise on the former Paris Saint-Germain manager and claims he was a “very special coach.”
"Ancelotti is a special coach for me, and I really appreciate him. He helped me a lot when I arrived at Chelsea and he was very important in helping me adapt to my position as a central midfielder. He's a very good coach", Ramires said, as quoted in Marca.
Meanwhile, The Express reported the Portuguese tactician is set to raid his former club in signing Isco, Sami Khedira and Raphael Varane. However, Mourinho has rejected those rumours and says that he will not sell any players to newly crowned Champions League winners nor sign anyone from Real this summer.
"They know that Ramires is not leaving, but they also know that I'm not interested in any Real Madrid players. Varane and Khedira? I reiterate that I'm not interested in any Real players, and that's the end of the matter,” Mourinho stressed.
Chelsea have already completed their first summer signing as the former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas agreed to join the Blues after leaving Barcelona. The Spaniard will replace the Stamford Bridge favourite Frank Lampard in the squad after the England international was allowed to leave on a free contract.
With Mourinho confirmed Ramires will be at Chelsea next season and the addition of Fabregas to their squad, it is likely to bolster the Blues midfield and will make them one of the firm favourites to win the Premier League title next season.
