Jose Mourinho has done it again! He has revealed the starting line-up for tomorrow’s match against FC Basel in the Champions League albeit not in the extraordinary manner he did in his first spell. Back then, he revealed his entire line-up ahead of a match with Barcelona.
“A couple of players [Lampard and Oscar] know they are going to start.” – Mourinho
Now, he has confirmed that Frank Lampard and Oscar are set to start. This could likely mean Juan Mata drops to the bench once again.
The usual Mourinho dig aimed at Rafa Benitez also came during a press conference. He said that he does not want his players to be in the Europa League. There have also been suggestions that Demba Ba could start as well. The former Newcastle United man has not been seen near the first team since Chelsea‘s 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Inevitably, questions came about his last Champions League press conference as a Chelsea manager in which he made comparisons between players and eggs. This is what he had said about the current crop of players:
“Beautiful young eggs.”
“Eggs that need a mum, in this case a dad, to take care of them, to keep them warm during the winter, to bring the blanket and to work and improve them. One day they will arrive in the moment where the weather changes, the sun rises, you break the eggs and the eggs are ready to go to the top level.”
That is classic Mourinho. Now, let’s hope for three points.
