Mourinho feels Cesar at left back works

Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho says that Chelsea’s left back position does not need reinforcements despite injuries to both Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand. Chelsea was linked with a possible loan move for Fabio Coentrao of Real Madrid following setbacks in the recovery of their current left back pair.

Mourinho says playing Azpilicueta on the left side does not make much difference. He said, “I think a left-back with a right foot is not a big problem really because they defend inside space, which is important. They are very comfortable and when you play with a winger on the left side, the left-back also has to play with the ball on inside areas.”

He also added that Ashely Cole deserved a place in the first team but with Azpilicueta on form, it does not make sense to drop him at the moment.

Mourinho believes Cole will understand the situation and be a team player that he has always been and keep working hard to regain his position.
