Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to be overly perturbed by the sides recent misfortunes. After hitting off on the right note to begin the season, the Red Devils suffered their first big jolt last weekend when United’s cross-town rivals and Manchester City beat them 2-1 on their own turf.
This was followed by their loss to Feyenoord on Thursday night, which has got a large section of the Manchester United fans worried with many describing their performance as toothless. However, Mourinho who took charge at Old Trafford earlier this season wants everyone to keep a level head in these tough times.
"When we won the Community Shield and the three Premier League matches, I was not on the moon," the Portuguese said when asked whether the defeats had brought forth the steepness of the task in front of him.
"I was not saying that we are a phenomenal team and we are going to destroy every opponent.
"I always said it was a very good start but I was never on the moon. I know that the situation is not ‘click your fingers and everybody is perfect.’
"But, to be honest, I think we didn't play phenomenal matches in these two defeats, but in both, I think it is a punishment for the team because we deserved more than the results we got."

Manchester United broke the English transfer record earlier this summer when they paid Juventus £89 million to bring back Paul Pogba to the club after letting him go on a free four years back. And the Frenchman has been at the sharp end of many of the fans’ scathing remarks from the past two games. However, the Portuguese didn’t want to single out anyone in his team for the team’s slump in fortune.
"I don't like to individualise too much because I answer and your mate comes with another name," said Mourinho when asked about Pogba. "It's something I don't like.
"I think he was like the team. In the first half, they were in control but were playing half pace. The second half was when they increased intensity and that was when they conceded the goal."
Mourinho also feels that the team needs to be mentally stronger and has urged his team to put these two failures behind as they look to bring their campaign back on track in the Premier League when they travel to Watford on Sunday.
