Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho remained silent about Diego Costa’s summer transfer but insists that Chelsea will definitely sign a striker.
It was reported on Friday that the Blues had agreed a €43 million deal to bring the Brazil-born Spaniard to Stamford Bridge, with the deal to be confirmed before the World Cup.
Mourinho chose to keep his cards close to his chest when asked about the 25 year old Costa, who is having one his best seasons till date and is only second in the goal scoring charts (27) to Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo (30).
“We are not going to be buying and selling and selling and buying,” Mourinho told reporters.
“We’re going to do a couple of critical signings. Is a striker a target for us? Yes, we’ve never denied that.
“Diego Costa is a good player but he’s an Atletico Madrid player so I cannot say much.”
Costa is in his 4th season with the Los Colchoneros and has been instrumental in his team’s success this season, as they are on course to claim the La Liga title for the first time since 1996 and are in the finals of UEFA Champions League after 40 years.
