After Chelsea beat Derby 3-1 to reach the Capital One Cup semi-finals, there is already talk in the press of the Premier League leaders having a chance of winning a quadruple – the EPL, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup. The Blues have a three-point lead in the league table over Manchester City and will face Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
They were also drawn with Watford in the FA Cup third round. However, Jose Mourinho does not even want to talk about winning a quadruple, especially with more than half the season left to play.
We will not speak of winning the quadruple: Mourinho
When asked about the possibility of winning four trophies, Mourinho said: “No. We don’t speak about this.
“People spoke a few weeks ago about being unbeatable in the Premier League. We never did it.
“Now people speak about a Quadruple and we never did it either. We have feet on the ground,” he concluded.
On the next Premier League game against Stoke City at the Britannia, Mourinho said: “We can win Monday, but it will be difficult. Important is to win Monday and important was to win today and go match by match.”
Update on injuries to Kurt Zouma and Didier Drogba
Defender Kurt Zouma was stretchered off after he collided with Petr Cech while Drogba limped off clutching his ankle in the win over Derby. But the Blues boss was optimistic they would return to action soon.
On Zouma, he said: “He was a bit dizzy and had some blood in his mouth because of a cut but he is fine.” But he was also critical of the medics taking too long to treat Zouma and said: “If they didn’t run I have to believe that is the instruction they had.”
On Drogba’s injury, Mourinho said: “I think he will be OK.”
