Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that the club made a bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and it would be now up to United to come to a decision.
He also rubbished the claims that David Luiz and Juan Mata were used as a bait in the deal to lure Manchester United into selling the England international. Meanwhile United have rejected the bid.
When asked if it is Rooney or bust, he replied in affirmative, thereby confirming that no other player is in Chelsea’s radar as of now.
Mourinho said: “We want the player. Now it’s up to Manchester United. I think that this situation is clear – nothing is a secret any more.
“The official bid is just about a certain amount of money and doesn’t involve players. We made the bid and now we have nothing more to say.”
Wayne Rooney is furious over the remarks made by the new United manager David Moyes and reportedly, has demanded for a transfer out of Old Trafford.
Moyes had earlier stated: “Overall, my thought on Wayne is that if for any reason we had an injury to Robin van Persie we are going to need him.”
