Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he does not expect to make any moves for new players in the winter transfer window. The club has been linked with moves for Radmael Falcao and Fabio Coentrao in a bid to improve their striking options and provide cover for the left back position respectively.
Mourinho said, “I’m not expecting moves. The market will be open for a month, so you never know what can happen, but I don’t think so.”
When asked earlier about lack of options in the left back position, he insisted that he was happy playing right back Azpilicueta as a left back and reiterated that a new left back was not a necessity.
He is also seemingly happy with his three striking options in Eto’o, Torres and Ba even though they have not scored regularly enough.
Recent reports claim that a record breaking deal was in place to sign Falcao from Monaco. But Monaco have come out and refused outright of any such deals and said that the forward was happy at Monaco.
Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku has in the meanwhile come out saying that he might possibly not return back to his parent club to which Mourinho responded by saying the he would be the one deciding if any player would be leaving the club.
Chelsea currently sit second in the EPL table and will be travelling to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland at 1.15 AM IST.
