Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has spoken out about Arsene Wenger’s comments relating to the Blues’ sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United.
Wenger claimed it was unfair for a club to sell a player to a team they’d already played twice in the Premier League, citing Mata’s move to United.
“Chelsea have already played twice against Manchester United, so they don’t play again any more. They could have sold Mata last week, but it opens at least the opportunity of the dates of this transfer window. Some teams have already played twice against one opponent and some others not,” said the Frenchman.
However, today, in his pre-match press conference, Mourinho has hit back at Wenger.
“Manchester United know exactly what they are getting. He’s not a gamble for them. We are convinced he’s going to well and we hope he does.
“Wenger complaining is normal. That’s what he does. This is the market. We don’t do the rules.
“In the Capital Cup we had 24 hours, they have 72. That’s not fair. When you go to the fixtures in the season, it’s never fair. They always get the right fixtures. It’s not fair.”
Juan Mata is set to complete his £37 million transfer to Manchester United later today.
