Juan Mata has warned Bayern Munich that Manchester United do not fear anybody ahead of their Champions League quarter final with the German giants.
The Spanish playmaker will miss the two-legged contest himself as he is cup-tied having appeared in the competition for Chelsea prior to his £37.1million move to Old Trafford in January, but he is behind his teammates and backing them to record an upset.
Many people are backing Bayern to lift the trophy come May and believe it will be a comfortable quarter-final for the Bavarian outfit, but Mata believes United will show no fear as they look to begin to put what has been a difficult season right.
Mata wrote on his blog, “Bayern is a massive opponent, but United has never feared any rival.
“I will be supporting my team-mates from the stands once more. We are going to try to win the Champions League, but Bayern is a superb squad.
“We must play a very good game in Old Trafford.
“Our win on Saturday (against Aston Villa) was special because we went from 0-1 down to prove to ourselves all the things we are capable of.
“We know our position in the table is not what the club and the fans deserve, but we are working to improve it.
“Tuesday is a great day to consolidate that work.”
