Brazilian veteran and free kick specialist Juninho Pernambucano could face a two-year suspension after he failed to follow the doping test rules after a Brazilan league match.
Brazil’s sports tribunal says Juninho broke the rules by going to the locker room before undergoing the test after Vasco da Gama’s match against Ponte Preta on Sept. 23
The World Anti-Doping Code demands that when a player is randomly selected for a drugs test he goes directly to the collection room from the playing field.37-year-old Juninho can receive a warning or be suspended for up to two years if found guilty.Juan of Santos and Ricardo Berna of Fluminense are the other offenders and face similar punishments.
He is considered by some as the greatest free kick specialist of all time. Juninho led Olympique Lyonnais to 7 consecutive Ligue 1 titles before leaving the club in 2009 while scoring 100 goals in 350 games for Lyon, and seven goals in 47 games for the Brazilian national team. He retired from international football after the 2006 World Cup.
