Talks of Liverpool challenging for the league termed 'crazy' by Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp earned his first Premier League win against Chelsea at the weekend

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has labelled the talks about the Merseysiders challenging for English Premier league as ‘crazy’, BBC reports.

The Reds recorded their first league win under the ex-Dortmund boss when they beat Chelsea 1-3 at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Ramires opened the scoring for Blues, but Coutinho struck either side of the half-time and Benteke later added another to cap off a brilliant day for Liverpool and Klopp.

The German was giving a post-match interview when he was quizzed about Liverpool’s title chances.

"Are you crazy? You think after one win at Chelsea we should think about this?" the flamboyant manager replied.

“I've been here three weeks, round about, we don't think about this. We have to think about the next game, about improving our game and our style. We can do much better than today," he added.

We deserved to win at Stamford Bridge: Klopp

Klopp also talked about his team’s build-up play and how they countered Chelsea’s pressing game. He said, “We had our moments - our build-up with short passes was very good. They tried to make pressure, but we could play in the spaces in between. I feel the win is deserved. We have worked hard, but it's normal if you want to win in Chelsea."

The German manager also lauded his side for the spirit they showed after going behind to the defending champions. He stated, "It's a difficult game, especially in this situation. We had not the best start, it was very warm and we needed a few minutes to come in, but we were in the game and I knew we would get some chances. We can do better, for sure, but for today it's absolutely OK."

The Merseyside club appointed Klopp as their manager after the team made a horrible start to the season under Brendan Rogers. The German signed a 3-year contract with the club, which can keep him at the club till October 2018.

Klopp’s first three matches in charge of the club ended in draws, for which the manager drew a lot of flak. Ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher also slammed the club’s lack of aggression on the field and admitted the current squad is full of ‘average players’.

However, Liverpool came back strong after the match against Southampton. They won their Capital One cup tie against Bournemouth at Anfield and then triumphed at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
