It appears that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has retained his uncensored persona having come over to England. In the pre-Southampton press conference, Klopp referred to the defeat against Crystal Palace with an expletive.
Klopp was answering a question regarding his record since his arrival at Liverpool and said, “Sometimes I would really like to change my personality, but I cant forget this f***ing lose (sic) against Crystal Palace. If we’d won this, I would say my first ten games were okay.” Liverpool succumbed 1-2 to Crystal Palace in Klopp’s 7th game in charge, disrupting a good run of unbeaten form. The loss appears to have made a lasting impression on Klopp, as he experienced the displeasure of British fans for the first time.
Liverpool’s performance in that game might still rankle Klopp, since the defeat was caused by the concession of two avoidable goals. The first, a result of an individual error from Emre Can & the second, a lack of organization at a corner. In addition, Liverpool were quite wasteful in front of goal & could have legitimately won the game on their own merit. Klopp appears to have ironed out these deficiencies from Liverpool’s game, as they are on an upturn of form recently.
Klopp was reflecting on his first 10 games in charge, with a record of 6 wins, 3 draws & 1 defeat in all competitions. It’s a huge turnaround from the Liverpool managed by Brendan Rodgers, whose last 10 games in charge of Liverpool involved 3 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses. The return of Daniel Sturridge from an injury layoff will hearten the spirits of Liverpool fans further as they can look upon Klopp’s initial spell with a sense of positivity.
