To say that Jurgen Klopp’s team have underperformed in the Bundesliga this season would be a bit of an understatement. As recently as February, Borussia Dortmund were rock bottom in the Bundesliga table.
They have since staged a bit of a recovery to make it up to eighth place in the table with four games to go.
Amid all the chaos, Jurgen Klopp announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. Which would have been on May 23 when Dortmund would face Werder Bremen at home.
But their victory over Bayern in the semi-final of the DFB Pokal Cup ensures that Klopp’s last game in charge of the Dortmund will be in Berlin at the DFB Pokal Cup final on May 30 against either Arminia Bielefeld or Wolfsburg.
But the man’s love for his club is well-documented. But we saw more of that last night as Dortmund emerged victorious from a war of sorts against their rivals Bayern. It took penalties to separate the sides, though, Klopp himself admits they were “lucky” to win.
