Juventus join Manchester City and Bayern Munich in Alexis Sanchez race

Sanchez on his way out?

Juventus have reportedly joined in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez after news coming out of the Emirates that he is unhappy at the club and wants a move away this summer. Even though it has been another underwhelming season for the Gunners, Sanchez has been one of the few bright spots with 17 goals to his name. While the Chilean has not been able to hit the heights that he hit in his debut season in the Premier League last season.

However, considering that he was injured for around 3 months and stands only behind Olivier Giroud on 21, it represents quite a good figure.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City have been linked with the 27-year-old in recent weeks and now according to Football Italia, Juventus are also keeping close tabs on him. The rumour mill actually began when the ex-Barcelona star reacted angrily after being subbed against Norwich City and stormed off the ground.

The current Serie A champions have already tried to land Sanchez once earlier, in the summer of 2011 when he left for Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger has once again failed to bring the Premier League back to the Emirates, and with the Gunners crashing out of the Champions League as well as the FA Cup and Capital One Cup, he is looking at yet another trophyless season. This could lead Sanchez away from the 66-year-old’s grasp.

The Frenchman bought the Chilean from the Blaugrana for a reported transfer fee of 42.5 million euros in 2014. The forward still has two years left on his contract and has been in talks to extend his deal while raising his wages to £160,000-a-week, but that agreement could now be in serious doubt.

Wenger tried to play down his antics after the game against Norwich saying he was just showing his desire to play.

But the manager, as well as the entire squad are said to be unhappy with Sanchez since his controversial comments at the beginning of March after back to back defeats to United and Swansea when he criticized their lack of desire.

He said, “If we go out on to the pitch with a hunger to become champions, to win the Premier League or the Champions League, we can achieve it, to win big things,” he said. “There are great players. I train with them daily and they have got the mentality and the desire to win but we lack hunger, the mentality that we are [already] winning 1-0 when we go out on to the pitch.”

Sanchez looks frustrated and seems to have reached his boiling point but still remains critical if the Gunners are to challenge for major trophies next season. Wenger has to find a way to tie him down to the club for the near future or the big clubs could swoop in.
