Chelsea and Manchester United’s transfer plans may have been dealt a blow, with Juventus ruling out the departures of any of their star players.
Both sides had been linked with raids on the Turin side’s midfield, with the Premier League duo’s respective needs for central midfield players seeing both Chelsea and Manchester United linked with moves for Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.
It is now thought, according to some reports, that Pogba is Chelsea’s top summer transfer target after a superb season.
However, despite the club previously refusing to rule out selling the pair, chief executive Beppe Marotta has now revealed that he will not be entertaining bids for the club’s best players.
He also revealed that Real Madrid had made enquiries about Vidal, but had been rebuffed, while Juventus hope to open contract talks with Pogba imminently.
“We have clear ideas. We’re a winning team that has a leader for a coach [Antonio Conte],” he told Italian media.
“For this reason, I’m excluding the possible departures of our stars.
“Real Madrid have shown an appreciation of Vidal, but that’s it. And with Pogba we hope to meet in the coming weeks to renew his contract.”
Pogba and Vidal were the driving force behind Juve’s title victory, making 36 and 32 appearances with seven and 11 goals respectively.
