#1 Juventus offered Pep Guardiola £20m-a-year deal
With every passing day, we are inching closer to Maurizio Sarri's appointment in Turin. However, it now appears that the Italian was not the first choice to take over at Juventus. We earlier broke the news that Juventus fans were still hopefully of getting Pep Guardiola for the hot seat, however, Manchester City had bluntly dismissed those rumours. It appears, though, that the Spaniard actually was in Juventus' plans.
Guardiola was offered a huge salary package to manage Juventus next season, according to reports surfacing from Italy. As per the contract put forward, he would have earned a mammoth £20m per year! It was far higher than what he currently earns at Manchester City. However, Guardiola has politely refused the offer and instead, prefers to continue with his project at Manchester City.
The Spaniard has been a huge hit at the Etihad and has transformed City into one of the best teams in Europe on current form. But European success has still eluded him in his three seasons in charge of the Citizens, and maybe that is the challenge he wants to complete before moving on.
As of now, Juventus might have to be content with Sarri for next season.
