Serie A Champions Juventus have confirmed the signing of Chelsea winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado on a three-year long loan deal. The Italian club will be paying £4.2 Million to get the services of the Colombian for three years.
Juventus have the option to sign Cuadrado on a permanent contract if they pay a fee of £16.8 Million to Chelsea next season according to Sky Sports. This means that the London club will be couping a total of £21 Million for the Colombian international if the Old Lady decide to sign him permanently.
Cuadrado had spent last season with the Serie A champions after the 28-year-old joined them on a season-long loan deal (Juventus paid a loan fee of about £1 Million for the services of Cuadrado). The Colombian scored a total of four goals from 16 appearances for Juventus during his stay in Italy last season.
Juventus manager Massimilano Allegri was not able to make a final verdict on the winger last season and hence did not opt to make the move the permanent. However, the Italian manager has decided to give Cuadrado another chance to prove his worth and get a permanent contract with the Serie A Champions.
Juan Guillermo Cuadrado joined Chelsea from ACF Fiorentina for a fee of £26.1 Million during the January transfer window of 2015. It was the Colombia's impressive performances in the World Cup 2014 that earned him a move to the Premier League giants, however, the winger have only made just four appearances for Chelsea since joining them.
The former Fiorentina player soon got fed up with the Premier League and was keen on a move back to Italy. Cuadrado's wish came true when Juventus decided to sign him on a season-long loan. Even though the 28-year-old was not able to make a proper use of his loan move last term, he will be hoping to prove a point this season.
The Chelsea winger is the Old Lady's tenth signing this summer. Juventus, who sold Paul Pogba for a world record fee, have also bought top players like Mehdi Benatia, Miralem Pjanic, Gonzalo Higuain and Dani Alves during this transfer window. Allegri and his men will be targeting to win the Serie A again this season. The Italian supergiants will also be hoping to put in a good competition for the UEFA Champions League which they lost by an inch in 2015.
