What's the story?
While Manchester United are yet to sign a player in January, the Red Devils have reached an agreement over Matteo Darmian with Juventus for a potential loan deal with an option to buy, for the remainder of the season.
Italian outlet, La Gazzetta Dello Sport suggests that Juventus' sporting director, Fabio Paratici, has reached an agreement with the Red Devils to take the full-back to Turin until the summer with an option to buy the Italian defender ahead of the 2019/20 season.
In case you didn't know..
Since joining the Red Devils for a fee of €18 million in 2015, the Italian was a regular starter during his first season with the EPL giants. However, from the next season onwards, the 29-year-old started to choke and has spent most of the time of his Manchester United tenure on the bench of the Old Trafford.
This season, the right-back has made only five Premier League appearances, so far. According to reports, the Italian giants will be paying around €3-4 million to secure the services of the Man United outcast for the rest of the season on a loan deal. The Bianconeri will add an option to buy which would allow them to sign the defender permanently ahead of the next season for a fee around €8 million.
The heart of the matter
With Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot ahead of the Italian defender in the pecking order at Old Trafford, it would be a perfect deal for all the parties involved here.
Darmian, who was recently being monitored by Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli would end his struggle for playing time at the Allianz stadium as Juve boss, Massimiliano Allegri, hinted that their right-back, Leonardo Spinazzola, could be loaned out to Bologna if a suitable replacement arrives in his squad.
Rumour rating: 8/10
Darmian's exit from the Old Trafford would give him an opportunity to revive his career in a different league. On the other hand, Manchester United would have some relief on their wage-list and create a vacant space for any potential signing that has to arrive in the future.
What's next?
Following six successive wins in the Premier League, Solskjaer's men are high on confidence and are currently occupying the 6th spot of the league table.
The Red Devils would aim for a top-four spot in the Premier League. On the other hand, Solksjaer would aim to mount a successful campaign in the FA Cup and the Champions League.
