Shinji Kagawa is set to meet Louis van Gaal after the World Cup to determine his future at Manchester United, with his agent claiming that the Japanese midfielder could still look to leave the club this summer.
Van Gaal was finally confirmed as Manchester United’s new manager on Monday, with the Dutch national coach set to take charge after completing his duties at the World Cup, making him the third manager Kagawa has played under since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2012.
The 25-year-old misfit has been linked with a move away from the club, with Napoli reported to be interested in his signature, but Thomas Kroth, the player’s agent, has claimed that his client will wait until after the World Cup to see if he fits into Van Gaal’s plans before making any decision on his future.
Kroth told reporters, “Shinji will play the World Cup first and then evaluate what are the plans with Louis Van Gaal. At present, it is difficult to say whether he will leave the club.”
Kagawa’s future at United is in doubt after two seasons in which he has underwhelmed in a red shirt. With a reported £200million rebuilding job set to take place at Old Trafford this summer, he could fall even further down the pecking order.
