Kenya and Zimbabwe lock horns at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in the final Group B game of the 2024 COSAFA Cup on Tuesday. Having failed to win the last seven meetings between the two sides, Jairos Tapera’s men will head into the game looking to get one over the Harambee Stars and book their spot in the knockout stages.
Kenya were brought back down to earth on Sunday when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Comoros at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium.
In a game where Paul Ochuoga received his marching orders, Affane Saïd Djambae scored a brace to leave the Harambee Stars empty-handed as the Comoros secured their first win of the campaign.
Having picked up a 2-0 victory over Zambia in their group opener on June 27, Kenya currently sit third in Group B, level on three points with second-placed Comoros.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, turned in a solid team display as they secured a 2-0 victory over Zambia in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. Michael Tapera and 22-year-old striker Takunda Benhura scored first-half goals to fire Tapera’s men to their second win in South Africa.
Zimbabwe, who are the second-most decorated side in the COSAFA Cup with six titles, now need at least a draw to clinch the top spot in Group B and book their place in the knockout phase.
