Burkina Faso v Ghana - 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Semi-Final
Kenya and Zimbabwe lock horns in Group B of the 2024 COSAFA Cup on Tuesday

Kenya and Zimbabwe lock horns at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in the final Group B game of the 2024 COSAFA Cup on Tuesday. Having failed to win the last seven meetings between the two sides, Jairos Tapera’s men will head into the game looking to get one over the Harambee Stars and book their spot in the knockout stages.

Kenya were brought back down to earth on Sunday when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Comoros at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium.

In a game where Paul Ochuoga received his marching orders, Affane Saïd Djambae scored a brace to leave the Harambee Stars empty-handed as the Comoros secured their first win of the campaign.

Having picked up a 2-0 victory over Zambia in their group opener on June 27, Kenya currently sit third in Group B, level on three points with second-placed Comoros.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, turned in a solid team display as they secured a 2-0 victory over Zambia in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. Michael Tapera and 22-year-old striker Takunda Benhura scored first-half goals to fire Tapera’s men to their second win in South Africa.

Zimbabwe, who are the second-most decorated side in the COSAFA Cup with six titles, now need at least a draw to clinch the top spot in Group B and book their place in the knockout phase.

Kenya vs Zimbabwe Head-To-Head and Key Numbers

  • With six wins from the last 11 meetings between the sides, Kenya hold a clear upper hand in the history of this fixture.
  • Zimbabwe have managed just in that time, which came in October 1985, when they secured a 2-0 victory over Tapera’s men, while the spoils have been shared on four occasions.
  • The Harambee Stars are unbeaten in their last seven games against Zimbabwe, claiming four wins and three draws since the 2-0 loss in 1985.
  • With Sunday’s victory, Zimbabwe have kept consecutive clean sheets for the first time since going three straight matches without conceding in the COSAFA Cup group stage back in 2017.
  • Kenya have lost just one of their last seven games across all competitions while claiming four wins and two draws since November 2023.

Kenya vs Zimbabwe Prediction

Zimbabwe have enjoyed a solid COSAFA Cup campaign and are on the cusp of securing their place in the knockout stages.

We predict Tapera’s men will pick up where they left off against Zambia and see off a deflated Kenya side at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium.

Prediction: Kenya 0-2 Zimbabwe
