PSV sporting director Marcel Brands has insisted that Kevin Strootman is not for sale ahead of the 2013/14 season.
The 23-year-old midfielder was a long-standing target for the 2012/13 Premier League champions’ Manchester United while the Italian side Napoli are also said to be interested in signing the Dutch international.
Brands told De Telegraaf: “We do not want to lose Strootman this summer. He knows that he will stay at PSV for another season.”
Kevin Strootman, who has a contract with PSV til June 2016, hails from the Sparta youth academy and used to play for FC Utrecht before he joined PSV in 2011.
However, Manchester United are believed to have shifted their interest to the Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara and a move for Strootman looks unlikely to happen.
