Liverpool centre back Kolo Toure will miss Ivory Coast’s friendly against Bosnia- Herzegovina after his doctor confirmed that the defender is suffering from Malaria.
The former Manchester City defender fell ill when he was on a trip to Abidjan before meeting his national team for the pre- World Cup training camp which was held in Dallas. Ivory Coast face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday for a warm up match before the World Cup starting in less than couple of weeks.
His team doctor, Cyrille Dah speaking to the Ivorian Football Federation website said, "Since Wednesday Kolo has been having treatment and this treatment will end on Friday. We have therefore told him to rest.
"He will not participate in the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but will return early next week."
Kolo Toure had made only 20 appearances with his new club Liverpool last season and provided 2 assists. He has been capped more than 100 times for his national team Ivory Coast.
Ivory Coast start off their World Cup campaign against a talented Japan side on 14th June, before meeting Colombia and Greece at the Group Stages of the FIFA World Cup.
