French star Kurt Zouma is in talks with a ‘big club in England’, according to his agent.
That club is believed to be Chelsea have been admiring Zouma, 19, for a while. The St Etienne defender has earned a reputation for himself as a tough-tackling, ball-winning central defender.
His stature and power at such a young age has led Chelsea’s gaze so far and it is thought that they are close to getting their man.
Alexandre Bonnefond, Zouma’s agent, said: “Some big clubs are interested in signing Kurt.
“There are some talks with teams from Italy, France and especially England.”
However, according to L’Equipe, the London club have fallen behind Italian side, Inter, in the race for Zouma’s signature. It is being reported in France that Inter have matched Monaco’s bid of €11 million and the Italian giants of the defender’s preferred destination ahead of a move to England.
The French club are, apparently, willing to let their highly-rated defender go this month but only for a fee of around £13 million.
Zouma has made 10 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, but is currently in the middle of an eight-game ban as a result of a bad challenge that left Sochaux midfielder Thomas Guerbert with a broken leg.
